Pulling The Trigger

I vaguely remember my uncle taking me hunting back home in Malaysia. I think I was about 10 years old. That was the first time I held a gun. To me, a gun or rifle can be bad, good or evil. It all depends on what you use it for. Look at what happened in Virginia Tech couple weeks ago.

Jimmy has quite a few rifles, namely the AK47, Mini 14, SKS, Lee Enfield(303, Bolt Action), Swedish, Portugese and German Mousers, A303, 30-06 and WW2 Japanese Rifle.

Jimmy promised Jake that he would take him shooting since he helped us move. I went along. We went to A Place To Shoot

It was a very interesting experience, and I have to say I enjoyed it. Although, I learned a valuable lesson. We have to clean the rifles after we have used them. Man! they took a long time to clean. It was also a very tedious and time consuming job. I told Jimmy that we will only go shooting next time if we have all day to spare. I was helping him clean the 4 rifles that we used, and it took us almost 4 hours. Every single part and compartment has to be carefully cleaned with some chemicals. All in all, the cleaning part was something that I didn't like.

Here are some pictures............

Handguns Range

This is the one for us. The rifles range.

Paper targets are about 75 yards away. The metal targets are in the hills, you can only see them through the telescope. They are far far away.

Jake unloading the gear.

Must have safety glasses

Ammunition.

Laying out the rifles
Jimmy brought 4 different rifles

We found bullet cartridges all over the range

Getting the ammo out
Loading the magazines

Jake and I waiting for our turn to shoot

Jimmy trying out his Mini 14

Me, shooting with the Mini 14. This is actually my favorite piece. It is the lightest of all.
I was quite accurate for shooting the first time. I actually hit all the targets, only with this rifle.
Jake's turn

Me again

Loading the Russian SKS for us

Trying out the SKS.

This was the worst. This is the WW1 British Lee Enfield. A very heavy and powerful rifle. It has a very hard kick. Man it hurt my arm.

Jimmy with the Lee Enfield.

Here comes the AK 47! Neat! It shoots 30 rounds very quickly.

Getting a good shot........you know what I mean
